Terms of service
Last updated: October 8, 2026
These terms apply when you use the hosted Reins service at app.reins2fa.com, the Reins apps
with that service, and this website. The Reins software itself is open source and licensed separately (see
LICENSING.md); you may run your
own server under those licenses, and these terms do not apply to it. By using the service, you agree to these
terms and to the privacy policy.
1. The service
Reins lets AI tools ask to act on your accounts (email, code repositories, calendars, messages, passwords and others). You approve or deny each request on your phone, or set up standing permissions and Autopilot to decide some of them for you. The hosted service is our server, which relays requests between your AI tools, your phone and the Reins desktop app, together with the apps, the desktop app and the Autopilot model we publish. It is operated by Daniil Katulevskiy, California, USA ("we", "us").
2. Early release
Reins is in early release. Features may change or be removed, requests that are still waiting are lost when the server restarts, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. Do not rely on it where a missed or delayed request could cause harm.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age at which you can agree to online services in your country if that is higher.
- You sign in with an account from Google, Apple, GitHub, Microsoft, or with your email address. Keep that account and your phone secure: anyone who can unlock your approval phone can approve requests in your name, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Your password vault and synchronized data are encrypted with keys that only your phones and your recovery code hold. Keep your recovery code safe. If you lose it and every phone signed in to your account, no one, including us, can recover that data.
4. Your decisions
- You decide what AI tools may do. Each approval, standing permission and Autopilot setting is your choice. When a request is approved, by you or by a setting you chose, the action is carried out with your accounts, and you are responsible for it as if you had done it yourself.
- Autopilot can be wrong. Its suggestions and automatic decisions come from a statistical model and your past decisions. Some kinds of request always need your approval, but no model is perfect. Review what it decided in the app's activity history.
- Command checks are not a sandbox. The desktop app's checks catch common risky commands. They cannot stop an AI tool that runs commands on your computer in other ways.
5. Other services
Your phone connects to services such as Google, GitHub, Telegram, GitLab, Codeberg, Bitbucket and MCP servers you add, and your AI tools are provided by others (for example Anthropic and OpenAI). Your use of those services is governed by their terms. You must have the right to use every account you connect, and following those services' rules on automated use is your responsibility.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- send spam, or access accounts or data you are not authorized to access;
- attack, overload or probe the service or other users (security research under SECURITY.md is welcome);
- upload malware, or use the large-file links to distribute files to the public;
- get around the limits we set on requests, files or storage.
We may suspend accounts that break these rules or put the service or other users at risk.
7. Fees
The hosted service is currently free. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance, and they will come with their own terms; nothing you already use will start costing money without your agreement.
8. No warranty
The service, the apps and the downloads are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, the accuracy of Autopilot's decisions, and uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the extent the law allows.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the service, including actions that AI tools carried out after an approval by you or by a setting you chose. Our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you; nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
10. Ending
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time, in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by email. We may end the service or your access to it with at least 30 days' notice, or immediately for a breach of section 6 or to protect the service or other users. Sections 4, 8, 9 and 11 continue to apply after the end.
11. Changes and law
We may update these terms. For material changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect; continuing to use the service after that means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes go to the state or federal courts located in California, subject to any mandatory consumer protections where you live.
